IAEA reports no mines, explosives on roof of Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has gained access to the roofs of two of the six power units of the ZNPP.

IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi announced this.

"After yesterday's access, IAEA experts did not notice any mines or explosives on the roofs of the reactor buildings of units 3 and 4 and the turbine halls of the ZNPP," Grossi said.

According to him, the IAEA team continues to request to visit the roofs of the other four blocks of the station.

For reference:

As Rubryka previously reported, according to intelligence, the enemy is preparing provocations at the ZNPP using heavy weapons.

It was also reported that the Russian occupiers intensified repression against the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant workers.

The IAEA discovered anti-personnel mines on the outskirts of the Zaporizhzhia NPP. During the inspection on July 23, the IAEA team saw several mines located in the buffer zone between the barriers of the internal and external perimeters of the ZNPP site.

Experts reported that the mines are located in a restricted access area, to which station personnel do not have access and are directed away from the site.

After putting the fourth power unit of the Zaporizhzhia NPP into hot shutdown mode, Russian occupiers cooled down the fifth power unit of the station. This causes concern among experts because it creates risks in nuclear and radiation safety.

IAEA experts at the ZNPP continue to closely monitor the situation regarding the availability of water for cooling the six reactors of the ZNPP and other crucial nuclear safety functions following the destruction of the Kakhovka Dam downstream in early June.
