President Volodymyr Zelensky has submitted a draft resolution to the Verkhovna Rada to impose 50-year-long sanctions against Iran.

The list includes a complete ban on trade operations, suspension of transit of resources, flights, and transportation in Ukraine, and prevention of capital outflow by Iranian residents.

The document also proposes to prohibit any investment in Iran and the transfer of technology and intellectual property rights by residents of Ukraine.

Unfortunately, the previous restrictions imposed by Ukraine and our partners on individuals and companies directly involved in the supply of weapons to Russia were not perceived as a serious warning. Well, we will strengthen our arguments, said Yulia Svyrydenko, First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Economy of Ukraine.

It is proposed to suspend electronic means of payment (including transfers, settlements and cash withdrawals) issued by residents of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The proposed sanctions will come into force after the relevant decision is made by the National Security and Defense Council, enacted by the President of Ukraine and approved by the Ukrainian parliament.

Iran supplies Russia with kamikaze drones of its own production. The aggressor constantly attacks the regions of Ukraine with anti-aircraft missiles.

As of today, Russia attacked Ukraine with Shahed drones, launching 54 UAVs on civil infrastructure. Ukrainian air defense managed to down 52 of them.

In October 2022, the Ukrainian government adopted a bill on breaking diplomatic relations with Iran and recognizing the country as a sponsor of terrorism.
