Over 980 Ukrainian children have been injured since the beginning of Russia's full-scale war

Since the beginning of the full-scale aggression of Russia, 1,462 children have been affected, with 980 minors having received injuries of varying degrees of severity.

The Office of the Prosecutor General reported this.

The Prosecutor's Office has reported that as of the morning of May 20, 2023, there have been at least 1,462 cases of child victims of the Russian invasion.

According to juvenile prosecutors' official information, the number of children who died is 482.

Moreover, over 980 minors sustained injuries of varying severity.

Juvenile prosecutors emphasize that the current figures are tentative, as the Office is actively seeking ways to compute statistics in areas of active warfare actions and those that have been recently occupied or now freed.

Children were most affected in the following regions:

  • Donetsk region – 459,
  • Kharkiv region – 277,
  • Kyiv region – 128,
  • Mykolaiv region – 89,
  • Chernihiv region – 70,
  • Luhansk region – 66,
  • Kherson region – 102,
  • Zaporizhzhia region- 91,
  • Dnipropetrovsk region – 70.

The latest discovered facts of crimes against children:

  • On May 17, due to enemy shelling of the city of Kherson and the village of Zelenivka, Kherson region, a 5-year-old boy was killed, and a 16-year-old boy was injured.
  • On May 19, as a result of shelling by the occupiers of the village Tavriyske, Zaporizhzhia region, a 14-year-old boy was injured.
  • As reported, as of March 23, 3,126 educational institutions were damaged due to bombing and shelling by the armed forces of the Russian Federation. Three hundred thirty-eight of them were utterly destroyed.
  • In addition, as of May 2, juvenile prosecutors emphasize that they have already found 11,917 children. The prosecutor's office considers 401 minors to be missing.
  • Moreover, the department stressed that 19,393 children were deported to Russia and the so-called Luhansk and Donets People's Republics, of which only 364 minors were returned home.
