The Ukrainian language was officially included in the European Commission's translation system — eTranslation. It is a service for translating texts and official documents into all 24 EU languages.

The press service of the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine reported this.

What is the problem?

Ukrainian lawmakers have faced difficulties in translating EU legislation from English to Ukrainian. This presents a challenge in adopting EU laws in Ukraine's parliament, which is required as part of Ukraine's EU candidate status, implementing the Association Agreement, and conducting accession talks.

What is the solution?

According to Ukraine's digital ministry, this online machine translation tool will help the country's legislators to analyze and implement EU legislative acts faster.

"And vice versa, Ukrainian legislation can now be translated into the languages of EU countries," the Ministry of Digital Transformation added.

The ministry stresses that this is an important strategic step for Ukraine, contributing to negotiations on membership in the European Union.

How does it work?

"All this became possible within Ukraine's participation in the EU program 'Digital Europe,' which Ukraine joined in 2022, and thanks to the joint work of the Government Office for the Coordination of European and Euro-Atlantic Integration with DG Translate and DG Connect," the ministry concluded.
