EU invites Ukraine to its Parliamentary Week for the first time

Ukraine has been invited to the European Parliamentary Week, despite the fact that it still only has the status of a candidate for joining the EU.

This is the first time in history Ukraine takes part in this event, the Verkhovna Rada Economic Committee reports on Facebook.

The European Parliamentary Week brings together parliamentarians from the EU to discuss economic, budgetary, and social issues. The event is aimed at strengthening cooperation between national parliaments and the European Parliament.

During the European Parliamentary Week in Brussels, the issues of what the EU member states should do for the victory of Ukraine altogether and each country individually were discussed.

The topics included:

  • Ukraine's accession to the EU;
  • confiscation of russian assets in the EU and their transformation into direct aid to eliminate the consequences of russian aggression in Ukraine;
  • strengthening of sanctions and their high-quality implementation. So that they do not remain only in theory but are effectively implemented, and the punishment really finds its culprits;
  • creating a special tribunal for war criminals and bringing them to justice.

"It is good that the initiators of most of the meetings were the members of the European Parliament themselves," the report says.
