100 cities worldwide will hold events on February 24 to commemorate war in Ukraine

A hundred cities worldwide will hold activities to support Ukraine under the slogan "light will win over darkness" on the anniversary of russia's full-scale invasion.

Channel 24 reports that the events aim to emphasize the need to support Ukraine more and strengthen sanctions against russia. The #LightWillWinOverDarkness campaign is also designed to remind the international community that the kremlin launched a war against the Ukrainian people in 2014.

Local organizers are activists of Ukrainian communities and diaspora. "The 'yellow-blue light' must win, and the moscow-putin darkness must be defeated," the organizers stressed, adding that the events will occur from February 23 to 26.

How will the events happen?

During the demonstrations, the protesters plan to use blue-yellow flashlights and candles. Some will be carrying torches and firecrackers, reproducing the symbolic meaning embedded in the name of the campaign.

In some cities, activists plan to hold a "Ukraine's live map" flash mob with the participants holding lit flashlights in their hands.

The inspiration for the slogan of the demonstrations in support of Ukraine on the anniversary of the full-scale invasion was a phrase that the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, said in his speech to the European Parliament during his in-person meeting in Brussels:

"Life will win over death, and light will win over darkness," he said.

The campaign coordinators plan to prepare 15 posters with statements based on American historian and writer Timothy Snyder's article "Why the world needs Ukrainian victory? Fifteen reasons" and use them during demonstrations.

The rally members will hand passers-by leaflets describing President Zelensky's peace formula, consisting of 10 conditions.
