Georgian delegation declines invitation to visit Kyiv on anniversary of russian invasion

The delegation of the Parliament of Georgia declined an invitation to visit the capital of Ukraine on the anniversary of the russian invasion on February 24.

Irakli Zarkua, a ruling "Georgian Dream" party member, confirmed the information, according to the "European Pravda."

"When high-ranking Ukrainian officials call our state to open a second front (against russia – ed.), when the prisoner Saakashvili, who has many serious charges, is called a political prisoner – I think that all of these leave no room for diplomatic relations," he said.

He confirmed that the delegation received the invitation from the Ukrainian side, but it refused to come.

At the same time, Zarkua added that the Georgian government "supports the Ukrainian people" and does "everything at all levels." In contrast, many strong countries, including European ones, "did not dare to do what Georgia dared to do against russia."

For reference:

Earlier, the opposition member, leader of the Strategy Aghmashenebeli party, Giorgi Vashadze, reported that the delegation of the Georgian Parliament refused to visit Kyiv on February 24.

At the same time, Georgia's Prime Minister, Irakli Garibashvili, alleged that Ukraine is making attempts to open a second front and transfer the war to Georgia.

It should be noted that in 2008 russia occupied several regions of Georgia, namely parts of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia and  South Ossetia.
