Ukrainian entered TOP-10 best students in the world

Ihor Klymenko, an Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute student, entered the Global Student Prize finals. He became one of the contenders for the $100,000 prize awarded to the best student on the planet.

Recently, the Global Student Prize announced the top 10 best students worldwide. Among them was the Ukrainian Ihor Klymenko. When he was in the 5th grade, the war began in Ukraine, and he realized that he wanted to help his country and began to develop robots for demining. For the past two years, he has been actively working on his Quadcopter Mines Detector research, which he successfully presents at numerous competitions and exhibitions.

Ihor plans to realize his invention and start mass production. If he wins the Global Student Prize, he intends to use the funds to attract new companies and organizations to get a finished product as soon as possible.

The winner of the Global Student Prize will receive an award of US$100,000. It is awarded to the student who makes the most significant impact on studies, the lives of his peers, and society in general. The selection of Global Student Prize finalists will consider academic achievement, impact on peers, change the candidate is making in their community and beyond, overcoming challenges along the way, creativity and innovation.

The award was founded by philanthropist and billionaire Sunny Varkey and the Varkey Foundation. In addition to students, they also recognize the best teachers in the world as part of the Global Teacher Prize. In Ukraine, the award of the same name has been held by the public union "Osvitoria" since 2017. This year, it collects stories of courageous teachers, heroes of the educational front, about whom the whole country will learn on the air of the national telethon on Teacher's Day, October 2.
