russia lost almost a thousand servicemen in an attempt to cross the Siversky Donets River

The invaders lost almost a thousand men and about 100 units of military equipment while trying to cross the Siverskyi Donets River in Bilohorivka, the Luhansk region.

The head of the Luhansk regional military administration Serhii Haidai reported about it in a video statement on Telegram.

"That disgraceful operation they carried out in Bilohorivka will go down in the history of this war between russia and Ukraine as their defeat in the Luhansk region. Because almost 100 units of equipment were defeated by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, two battalions died there, which is almost a thousand soldiers. Also, several pontoons were destroyed. All attempts to cross and create a bridgehead in Bilohorivka, they were all defeated, nothing came of them," said Haidai.

He added that, unfortunately, the enemy didn't abandon such plans. The invaders plan to surround the regional center, the city of Sievierodonetsk, and continue to attack in this direction.

"Thousands of russians are trying to break closer to the city, but they fail. In the villages on the outskirts of Sievierodonetsk, our defenders give a decent rebuff, so the ruscists are even retreating. The fighting continues," said the head of the region.

Earlier, The New York Times published an article stating that the losses of russian troops trying to cross the Siverskyi Donets in the Luhansk region are one of the largest since the beginning of the war, they create a sense of catastrophe in russia.
