Lithuanian President advocates Ukraine's full integration into internal single European market

Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda believes that the European Union should offer Ukraine, Georgia, and Moldova the opportunity to fully integrate into the single market.

He stated this before the EU summit in Brussels, DW reports.

"It is very important to send a clear signal to our eastern neighbors that the EU is ready for an ambitious strategic policy towards the Eastern Partnership countries. Especially to the Associated Trio (Ukraine, Moldova, and Georgia – ed.), we must send a very clear signal that we're ready for the full integration of these countries into the EU's internal single market," Nauseda said.

He added that for other countries of the Eastern Partnership, we should talk about "selective" sectoral integration with the EU.

"We should use the opportunity of the Eastern Partnership summit in December to motivate these countries to continue moving through reforms and motivate the population of these countries to look at the EU as a region that is sooner or later ready to accept them to the union," said the Lithuanian president.

The Eastern Partnership summit is scheduled for December 15 in Brussels.
