A Berlin cushion installed near a school in Lviv: photo
In Lviv, a Berlin cushion appeared on Instrumentalna Street, in the direction of school №81.
The NGO "Comfy City" announced this on Facebook, Rubryka reports.
It is noted that the peculiarity of this means of traffic calming is that the cars slow down, and the bus takes it "between the wheels" and doesn't bounce. Two-wheeled vehicles also don't bounce.
That is, the Berlin cushion is much better than the speed control bump.
The comments note that the same cushion is in Lviv on Vorobkevycha Street.
Note
The Berlin cushion is a means of reducing the speed of cars. It consists of several artificial irregularities located in the middle of the roadway, with gaps between them. The width of these elements is such that private cars are forced to slow down and go for a raise on one side.
At the same time, special equipment and buses with a wider wheelbase simply miss this unevenness between the wheels, which doesn't affect their movement. Also, two-wheeled vehicles can go around this artificial unevenness without stopping.
