"We start our work": Zelenskyy wants to create a national airline by the end of the year
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wants to involve the French consulting company, Aerogestion, in creating a Ukrainian national air carrier; they want to create an airline by the end of the year.
The Office of the President reported this following a meeting between Zelenskyy and Aerogestion Director Marc Roche.
The meeting was also attended by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, Minister of Infrastructure Oleksandr Kubrakov, Deputy Head of the President's Office Yulia Sviridenko, and Aerogestion expert Pierre Denis.
According to Zelenskyy, the domestic market of air transportation in Ukraine doesn't meet all the strategic needs of the state, so it was decided to create a national air carrier.
"Its introduction should provide citizens with accessible and convenient flights between Ukrainian regions, promote the decentralization of international air transportation and provide an impetus for the development of the tourist potential of our country," the Office of the President quotes Zelenskyy.
It is noted that the French government has initiated a grant to provide a consultant.
"We're starting our work. This year we want to get a competitive state air carrier," the president said.
Aerogestion Director Marc Roche, in turn, said that the Ukrainian airline market was fragmented and affected by the coronavirus pandemic, but there were still opportunities to create a national carrier.
Founded in 1999 by Marc Roche and Dominic Gretz, Aerogestion specializes in the development and restructuring of airlines.
Aerogestion currently has about 15 consultants with an average of 20 years of experience in air transport and tourism, advising on business management, business strategy, profitability management, restructuring, and company transformation.
