Today is the 7th anniversary of Sloviansk and Kramatorsk's liberation from Russian militants

It has been 7 years since the Ukrainian military liberated Sloviansk and Kramatorsk from pro-Russian militants. Strategically important cities for Ukraine were under enemy occupation for 84 days.

In early July, Ukrainian forces began to actively attack terrorist positions.

On the night of July 5, the militants fled Sloviansk on field roads to Kramatorsk.

In the morning, the Ukrainian military entered the city and hoisted a state flag over the Sloviansk City Council.

 

On the same day, due to the defeat in Sloviansk, the militants left Kramatorsk, after which Ukrainian troops took it.

Besides Sloviansk and Kramatorsk, in July 2014, the Ukrainian military also liberated Kostiantynivka, Druzhkivka, and Bakhmut.

During the entire period of fighting for Sloviansk, Ukraine lost 70 soldiers, and 470 terrorists were killed. Losses from the destruction of the housing property in Sloviansk amounted to 1.5 billion hryvnias. In particular, 34 houses and buildings were damaged, including 4 schools.

 

The Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine congratulated the residents on the Liberation Day of Kramatorsk and Sloviansk. The address was published on the Facebook page of the Armed Forces JF Command.

July 5, 2014, is a heroic date in the recent history of Ukraine. Unfortunately, many of our comrades-in-arms died in the battles for Sloviansk and Kramatorsk. So let's bow to the Heroes for their feat and express our sincere condolences to their family and friends," the greeting reads.

According to him, it was from this day that peaceful life began in the cities, and people began to feel like free citizens of Ukraine.

"Celebrating this date, I wish you good health, happiness, prosperity, good luck, and optimism! We are jointly creating the history of our country with you and our future, and only together we can change it for the better," the Commander of the Armed Forces said.
