Nord Stream of Betrayal: how the US can allow Russian-German pipeline completion
By the end of 2021, Nord Stream 2 will be completed, and Gazprom is ready to supply fuel there: these days, Russians are repeatedly bragging about their success in building a gas pipeline bypassing Ukraine. Whether this is true is unknown. Until recently, the answer would've been no, because of US sanctions.
Formally, the US State Department even launched a new phase on May 20. However, in practice, Nord Stream AG itself, responsible for construction, and its head, Matthias Warnig, have disappeared from the blacklist. Several American politicians and experts have already criticized the decision, saying that it only helps the organizers of Nord Stream. We analyze what's happening.
