Sheltering a homeless animal is not scary! How Leia became part of Rubryka team
With the beginning of a full-scale war, there are more and more abandoned animals on Ukrainian cities' streets. Some lost their owners, some were left during the evacuation, and some simply had nothing to be fed.
What is the problem?
Shelters are overcrowded and are coping only thanks to the support of caring people. They need everything: insulation, medicine, feed, and volunteers who can walk and spend time with the animals. But what is most needed are reliable people ready to become a family for abandoned or homeless animals.
What is the solution?
Take a new pet into the family.
This is what our Marusya Minayeva, Rubryka's art director, did. Of course, the step was not easy and very emotional, but now she has her own Leia. The fluffy beauty with amazingly sad eyes does not take a step away from her new owner, as if she is afraid to lose her out of sight.
"I just entered the cage, and she ran up and hugged my leg. She sat like that, not letting go – Marusya recalls their first meeting. — The shelter worker said that it was Leia who chose me and not vice versa. Apparently, that's how it is."
Taking an animal into the family is a responsible step for which you must prepare. Shelter workers may even refuse those who take their new responsibilities lightly and refuse to give away the pets.
But the happiness you will feel with a new friend is definitely worth all the trials!
Our Marusya loves Leia even when she steals all her socks from her.
"It seems that this is the best solution in such difficult times for everyone – to have a faithful furry friend, full of energy and love. Animals from the shelter are the most loyal and grateful because they always remember the value of everything you do for them," Marusya says.
