Czech volunteer medic seriously injured in Donbas artillery strike
A Czech volunteer, who, within the framework of the "Phoenix" project, was treating Ukrainian soldiers injured in battle and helped save dozens of people, was seriously wounded in Donbas.
The project announced this on its Facebook page.
"One of our brave volunteer medics received a shrapnel wound in Donbas. His condition is currently stable, but the situation is difficult, and it is impossible to predict future events. We are doing everything in our power to return him to the Motherland as soon as possible," the post reads.
As part of the "Phoenix" project, Czech medics teach soldiers the basics of providing medical aid and transport the wounded from the front line.
A spokesman for the organization told Czech Television that the wounded volunteer was helping to evacuate one of the injured soldiers.
"During this, unfortunately, there was artillery fire, after which he was injured by shrapnel," he said. The spokesman also added that the injuries were relatively serious.
For reference:
It should be noted that earlier, a Polish volunteer was injured near Bakhmut as a result of russian shelling; a projectile hit his minibus.
As Rubryka wrote, on February 3, American volunteer Pete Reed died in Donetsk in the fortress city of Bakhmut while providing aid to the civilian population.
