Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that Canada will supply Ukraine with infantry fighting vehicles, landing systems, and flight simulators for F-16 fighter jets. Additionally, Trudeau revealed the release of the first tranche of aid funded by frozen Russian assets.

Canadian Prime Minister reported this during the Support Ukraine meeting in Kyiv.

According to him, the Ukrainian military will receive 25 Lav III infantry vehicles and undergo training in Germany on them.

In addition, Ukraine will receive:

  • landing systems for F-16 aircraft,
  • four simulators for such fighters, which will arrive in the coming months.

Trudeau says this is all in addition to millions of ammunition, equipment, and first-aid kits.

"We will also transfer the first tranche of $5 billion in aid to Ukraine, financed by proceeds from frozen Russian assets, along with a grant to help Ukraine maintain energy security after Russia's repeated reckless attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure," he added.

For reference:

It should be noted that Denmark will allocate 405 million kroner ($56.8 million) for humanitarian aid and reconstruction efforts in Ukraine.

Norway will provide Ukraine with 12.5 billion Norwegian kroner ($1.1 billion), which will primarily go to humanitarian aid and energy security.

The Swedish government announced the transfer of air defense systems (ADF) worth 1.2 billion kroner (almost $113 million) to Ukraine.

In addition, on February 23, Estonia announced that it was providing Ukraine with a new military aid package, which included artillery ammunition and food kits for Ukrainian fighters.

Also, Germany provided Ukraine with a new military aid package in mid-February. It includes missiles for the IRIS-T air defense system, Zuzana 2 self-propelled artillery mounts, strike and reconnaissance drones, and ammunition.

At the same time, the EU Council adopted the 16th package of sanctions against Russia. It, in particular, covered the banking sector, the media, the "shadow fleet," and the import of primary aluminum. Ukraine will also receive a new tranche of 3.5 billion euros.
