Ukrainian athletes triumph with four gold medals on sixth day of 2024 Paralympics
On the sixth day of the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris, Ukrainian athletes had a successful showing, taking home a total of 10 medals, including four gold, three silver, and three bronze.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine reports this.
It was mentioned that Andrii Trusov and Yuriy Shenhur earned medals in the 100-meter backstroke (class S7):
- Yuriy Shengur achieved his first gold medal in the Paralympics,
- while Trusov earned the silver, making it his third silver medal to add to his past accomplishments.
Also, Ihor Nimchenko earned a silver medal in the 100-meter butterfly (class S10), marking his first medal at the Paralympic Games.
Danylo Chufarov also took home the silver medal in the 200-meter individual medley (class SM11).
In her turn, Yuliia Shuliar became the T12 class champion in the 400-meter race, setting a new personal best time of 55.16 seconds.
Oleksandr Yarovy also won the gold medal in the F20 class shot put event, while his colleague Maksym Koval earned the silver medal in the same competition.
Nataliia Kobzar won the gold medal in the 400-meter (class T37) event, while Olena Fedota-Isaieva earned a bronze medal in the saber fencing (category B) competition. This marks Ukraine's inaugural medal in wheelchair fencing.
As of today, the Ukrainian national team has a total of 45 medals, putting them in seventh place in the overall medal count.

The 2024 Summer Paralympic Games will be held from August 28 to September 8, 2024, in Paris at the same venues used for the Olympic Games.
At the opening ceremony, the Ukrainian flag was carried by fencer Olena Fedota-Isaieva and rower Roman Poliansky.
At the previous competitions in Tokyo, Ukraine took 6th place in the medal count, having won a total of 98 awards, 24 of which were gold.
The Ukrainian national team claimed its first medal at the 2024 Paralympic Games on August 29th. Swimmer Anton Kol secured the silver in the S1 class for the 100m backstroke event.
On August 30, Ukraine won its first gold medal. Ukrainian swimmer Oleksandr Komarov became the best in the 100-meter freestyle final in the S5 class.
It should be noted that Ukraine's team took home a total of 8 medals on September 2, the fifth day of the 2024 Paralympic Games, including:
- two gold,
- two silver
- and four bronze medals.
