Ukraine's foreign minister shares positive news about air defense for Ukraine
Ukraine already has two decisions from partner countries regarding the supply of air defense equipment, but there will be more to come.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, announced this.
"I can't talk about it (about the supply, – ed.), but the president is working. This was also a key topic yesterday. We are working, the military is working, everyone is working. In the last two months, we have turned the world upside down to find a solution," said the head of Ukraine's foreign policy.
Kuleba reminded that one solution had already been found — Germany promised to send one Patriot.
"Also, there was a decision in the public space regarding the Italian Samp/T systems. There are more to come," Kuleba shared.
What is known about the initiative to find air defense for Ukraine
We remind you that on April 17, the German government launched an initiative to find additional air defense equipment that can be transferred to Ukraine. Berlin later reported that it was in discussions with Denmark and the Netherlands to finance the initiative.
In April, Belgium also announced the allocation of €200 million to the German initiative, and in May, Canada pledged more than $55 million.
German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius also announced his intention to purchase three HIMARS rocket launchers from the United States and transfer them to Ukraine.
Also, on May 31, Germany announced the transfer of another Patriot air defense system to Ukraine.
What is known about the transfer of air defense equipment to Ukraine by partner countries
- France will supply Ukraine with a new batch of Aster anti-aircraft missiles for the SAMP/T air defense system.
- The United States of America is considering sending another Patriot battery to Ukraine.
- Germany will hand over the IRIS-T air defense system to Ukraine in May.
- At the same time, Ukraine will receive the third Patriot air defense system from Germany.
- The Netherlands has publicly announced its readiness to purchase a Patriot battery for Ukraine.
At the same time, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba said that Ukraine is negotiating the transfer of four Patriot batteries.
