The third phase of "Hansen's Town" was recently opened in Tarasivka, Kyiv region, to provide housing for internally displaced people who lost their homes due to Russia's armed aggression.

Ukrinform reports this.

What is the problem?

Currently, many people in Ukraine have lost their homes as a result of the war.

What is the solution?

The third phase of "Hansen's Town" was opened in Tarasivka, Kyiv region, for internally displaced persons who lost their homes due to Russia's armed aggression.

"24 more families will join the residents of Hansen Township. I know that these families have suffered a lot. For many of them, even the journey here was very dangerous and very long. But today, we all welcome you together into our community. Together, we will honor and share the pain of those people who need our help today more than ever," said American businessman and philanthropist Dell Loy Hansen.

How does it work?

The head of the Kyiv Regional State Administration, Ruslan Kravchenko, noted that IDPs from Kharkiv, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions, as well as residents of the Kyiv region who lost their homes as a result of the war, received housing.

"We continue with the Dell Loy Hansen Foundation to increase the possibility of accommodating internally displaced persons. They will be provided housing for at least five years until a more permanent solution can be reached," Kravchenko said.

He added that the concept of a new town for internally displaced persons in another region district is being considered.

Hansen and the students also laid a capsule for the construction of the Hansen Village Academy school for 700 students.

"Today, we will lay a symbolic capsule in the school's foundation that will work here and to which the town's children will go. I promise this school will be one of the best in Ukraine," the philanthropist noted.

The educational institution is planned to be built by September 1, 2025. The building, which will cover an area of almost 6.5 thousand square meters, will be equipped with 24 classrooms, a library, a gym, a shelter, two sports courts, and a conference hall.

For reference:

"Hansen's town" is a complex of multi-apartment and individual residential buildings, as well as infrastructure facilities for free accommodation of IDPs affected by the war.

The residential complex is designed for 421 families. Two hundred seventeen families (894 people, 352 children) already live in the town.

The American businessman and philanthropist Dell Loy Hansen founded and financed the project.

In October, the first phase of "Hansen's Town" was opened in Tarasivka, Kyiv region.

As per previous reports, the American company Wasatch Group, in collaboration with the charity organization To Ukraine With Love, plans to construct 600 fully furnished modular homes in the Kyiv region for those whose residences were demolished during the war. This project is expected to be carried out between 2023 and 2024.
