BGV Charity Fund and German donors restore children’s art school in Bucha
The BGV Charity Fund, in collaboration with German donors #WeAreAllUkrainians and the Lufthansa Group's help alliance foundation, has completed the Levko Revutskyi Children's Arts School renovation project in Bucha.
During the final IV stage, the fund renovated the stage and purchased another batch of needed equipment worth €10,000 for student education, including musical instruments and cases for them, 20 music stands, a combo amplifier, an instrument cable, a bass guitar and strap, an acoustic system, a microphone, an interactive panel, and a mobile stand. The school's dance ensembles also receive 50 pairs of footwear.
The project's story began on June 18, 2022, at the Munich Philharmonic, which hosted the Concert For Tomorrow — a charity performance of the Munich Symphony Orchestra stars and Ukrainian musicians. The concert was a fundraising effort for the reconstruction of the Bucha Children's Art School, which suffered significant damage to its facade and communication systems during the occupation by Russian forces in February–March 2022.
The restoration of the art school in Bucha began in October 2022, and 10 million hryvnias was spent on renovation. Most of the funding was donated by passengers of the German national airline Lufthansa Group. The project involved 60 experts and eight subcontracting companies.
An important part of the project was creating an inclusive space and organizing learning at Bucha Children's Art School to ensure barrier-free access to all classes for children with disabilities. Five children with special educational needs are currently studying there.
The reconstruction of the school has enabled over 30 teachers to continue their work. Today, the Bucha Children's Art School has 539 students studying seven specialties: piano, string and bow, folk, music theory, visual arts, vocal, and choreography.
