Scottish initiative donates 2,000 computers to Ukrainian schools
The "Unbreakable Education" project has delivered another batch of computer equipment from Scotland to the Ukrainian capital.
It will be sent to local educational institutions, Rubryka reports.
What's the problem?
Currently, about 2 million Ukrainian children continue their education online or in a hybrid format due to the full-scale war. Among them, 327,000 are skipping classes or may not attend at all because they lack gadgets.
Children need constant access to laptops or tablets. Sometimes, students have to borrow phones from their parents to attend lessons.
What's the solution?
Two thousand computers have been delivered to Ukraine these days from the Scottish charity initiative Reusing IT. They will be transferred to Ukrainian educators within the "Unbreakable Education" project, founded by the Educational Initiatives Fund with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
"Unbreakable Education" collects used equipment from abroad and transfers it to educational institutions in Ukraine. The project aims to provide access to distance learning and improve educational institutions' material and technical base.
How does it work?
The project has been operating in Ukraine since 2022 and helping teachers and students continue learning in the conditions of war in a blended and distance format through digital educational centers, deployment of WiFi networks in bomb shelters, and mobile and stationary gadgets for educational institutions in need.
The total need and the number of computers transferred to educators in 2022-2024 are reflected in real-time mode on the official dashboard of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
The number of partners involved in supporting Ukrainian schools is constantly increasing. The project has already received and delivered to Ukrainian educational institutions over 500 high-quality refurbished laptops, computers, and servers, donated by Reusing IT (UK) and MEGATRADE (Ukraine).
During March 2024, the next large batches of equipment for the project will be delivered from these donors and from the company NIBULON (Ukraine). Two thousand computers have already been delivered to the warehouse of the project's service partner in Ukraine, IT-INTEGRATOR, with logistical assistance from Yorkshire Aid Convoy (UK).
Funds for the restoration of equipment for Ukrainian educational institutions are raised not only in Ukraine but also abroad, thanks to the involvement of the charitable initiative Hearts For Ukraine (USA).
On March 12, 2024, the Ministry of Education hosted a working meeting with the Deputy Minister of Education for Digital Development, Digital Transformations, and Digitalization of Ukraine, Dmytro Zavhorodniy, with the founders and charitable partners of the "Unbreakable Education" project.
