The US-based Education Cannot Wait Global Fund and Ukraine's education ministry will present a special multisectoral digital education program for Ukrainian children.

What is the problem?

The full-scale war in Ukraine has been going on for three years now, and children, especially in the eastern regions, are suffering from the lack of access to education.

"We must not only provide children with gadgets, but we must also provide them with approaches, technology, and philosophy that will cover their educational needs," said the US foundation's executive director.

In 2024, the Ukrainian Education Cluster identified 1.2 million children and teachers as in need of humanitarian support.

According to the 2023 Humanitarian Needs Overview, he noted that about 5.3 million children and teachers in Ukraine have been negatively affected by the war, of which 4.8 million children need immediate educational support, including 480,000 children with disabilities and special educational needs.

About 330,000 children and 68,000 teachers in 10 regions of Ukraine need digital devices to ensure online learning due to the inability to study regularly offline.

What is the solution?

The Education Cannot Wait Global Fund will launch a special multisectoral program with a fairly substantial budget, including digital education centers for Ukrainian children.

How does it work?

Education Cannot Wait is the first foundation to invest $6 million since the beginning of the war for the needs of Ukrainian children.

The Fund has been actively cooperating with the Ukraine's education ministry and local partners since the beginning of the war.

Thanks to the charitable initiative of international foundations and Ukrainian partners, 5,000 students have received tablets for learning.

UNICEF donated more than 1,500 laptops and tablets to the most vulnerable students in the Dnipro region.

Over the past year, about 30,000 laptops out of the planned 50,000 were delivered to the regions of Ukraine.
