Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz have signed a security cooperation agreement between the two countries.

The German government chief announced this on X, Rubryka reports.

"Volodymyr Zelensky and I signed an agreement today on our long-term security commitments — a historic step. Germany will continue to support Ukraine in the face of the Russian war of aggression," the chancellor stated.

In his turn, Zelensky shared what the agreement entails. The document solidifies German support for Ukraine, which exceeds €7 billion this year. This aid includes weapons with existing concrete contracts.

The agreement outlines Germany's clear position on sanctions against the aggressor Russia, the tribunal, and frozen assets. The deal also outlines the procedure for consultations in the event of a potential future Russian armed attack on Ukraine.

Rubryka reported that Ukrainian President Zelensky arrived in Berlin, where he started negotiations with Chancellor Olaf Scholz. The leaders plan to discuss further support for Ukraine in the defense, political, and financial fields.

Later in the evening, Zelensky is scheduled to travel to Paris, where he intends to sign a second security agreement with French President Emmanuel Macron.

Earlier, Rubryka reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is expected to visit Germany and France on Friday, February 16. The visits to the countries will be conducted to secure crucial defense assistance and to sign bilateral documents on security guarantees.
