Ukrainian forces destroy Russian Su-34 bomber jet in Luhansk region – General Staff

Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed a Russian Su-34 fighter jet in the eastern Luhansk region. 

According to the spokesperson for the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Andrii Kovaliov, the Ukrainian soldiers downed a Russian Su-34 bomber jet on Monday, January 29, Rubryka reports.

According to the General Staff, as of the morning of January 30, Russia has lost 332 aircraft and 324 helicopters in the war against Ukraine.

The Su-34 (NATO reporting name Fullback) is a Soviet and Russian multirole fighter-bomber designed for precise missile and bomb strikes on enemy ground targets in both operational and tactical depth and for hitting enemy air targets.

Destruction of Russian Su-34 Jets

The Russian army continues to suffer losses, including in aviation. On the night of January 4, a Su-34 aircraft caught fire at the Shagol airfield in Chelyabinsk, Russia. This was a special operation by the Ukrainian Defense Intelligence. Later, Ukrainian officers released a video showing the burning Russian Su-34.

On December 24, Ukrainian air defense destroyed another Su-34 jet and one Su-30 jet of the Russian occupiers. Also, on December 22, Ukrainian defenders were able to destroy three Russian Su-34 fighter-bombers in the Kherson region within a day.
