India to participate in Ukraine peace talks in Saudi Arabia

India will participate in the peace talks regarding Ukraine, which will be held in Saudi Arabia on August 5 and 6.

This was stated by the country's representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Arindam Bagchi, at the briefing.

A foreign ministry official said New Delhi had been invited to a meeting organized by Saudi Arabia in Jeddah.

"India will participate in this event. Our participation aligns with our longstanding position that dialogue and diplomacy is the way forward," he said.

According to the AP, Bagchi did not say who would represent the country at the summit. "We will let you know when I can do it," the spokesman said.

For reference:

As Rubryka previously reported, Saudi Arabia plans to hold talks on restoring peace in Ukraine in early August in Jeddah, where high-ranking officials from about 30 large and developing countries will attend. The Czech Republic confirmed the holding of the summit and reported that it had already received an invitation to the meeting.

Representatives of Western countries, Ukraine, and key developing countries, including India and Brazil, are expected to participate in the talks. Western and Ukrainian officials hope the talks will lead to a peace summit later this year.

Great Britain, South Africa, Poland, and EU countries are among those who have already confirmed their participation.

Also, a source familiar with the situation said that US President's national security advisor Jake Sullivan will be present in Jeddah.
