Solutions to win: Ukraine to open drone repair and maintenance center
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the Turkish company BAYKAR MAKINA signed an agreement on constructing a service center to repair and maintain unmanned aerial vehicles in Ukraine.
The press service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported this.
What is the problem?
The Ukrainian military started a counterattack in two locations. They require military hardware, drones, and ammunition to make headway successfully.
Drones are expendable; they can be destroyed or damaged while in use. Unfortunately, fixing a drone when it's broken is impossible, and it often requires a specialized diagnosis to determine the cause of malfunction. This process involves the use of certain tools and equipment.
What is the solution?
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the Turkish company BAYKAR MAKINA signed an agreement on constructing a service center to repair and maintain drones in Ukraine.
The contract was signed in the development of the framework agreement between the governments of Ukraine and Turkey on cooperation in the field of high technologies, aviation, and space industries, which entered into force on January 23 of this year. Such a step will significantly strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the defense sphere.
How does it work?
State Secretary of the Ministry of Defense Kostiantyn Vashchenko said that creating a service center would significantly strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities and help bring victory closer.
He also added that today the policy of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry is aimed at strengthening its own capabilities in repairing military equipment.
"This applies not only to drones. It also applies to heavy armored vehicles and other means of warfare. We understand that we need to develop our own infrastructure, create our own jobs, and train our own personnel so that even after victory, we have the opportunity to be as effective as possible and use available resources to maintain the state's defense capability at an appropriate level," the state secretary said.
For reference:
After Western partners agreed to supply tanks to Ukraine, Poland started negotiating to open up a service center on its land for upkeep. They planned to start it up in May, but the talks between Poland and Germany postponed it.
It was announced on July 22 that a service center for fixing Ukrainian Leopard tanks had opened in Poland.
