Zelensky holds first-ever phone conversation with president of Cape Verde

President Volodymyr Zelensky discussed with the President of Cape Verde Jose Maria Nevesh the Ukrainian peace formula and the issue of global food security.

The conversation was the first in the history of diplomatic relations between the countries, Zelensky reported on Telegram.

"We continue systematic work with the Global South. I had the first telephone conversation in the history of diplomatic relations with the President of Cape Verde, Jose Maria Nevesh. Thank you for your leadership position in the group of small island states in support of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine," Zelensky said.

The President spoke about the Ukrainian peace formula and offered Cape Verde to participate in its implementation.

The leaders also discussed the topic of global food security, in particular, the Ukrainian humanitarian initiative "Grain from Ukraine".

For reference:

President Volodymyr Zelensky recently took part in the G7 summit in Hiroshima, where he held bilateral meetings with most of its participants, who represented not only the G7 but also the leading states of the Global South.

For the first time in history, a conversation between Zelensky and the President of the Comoros Islands took place.
