Beetroot Academy launches free course to empower women in IT

The Swedish-Ukrainian IT school Beetroot Academy launched a free course, "Introduction to IT." It is designed for women who seek to develop and realize their potential in the field.

Rubryka informs about this.

What is the problem?

The Ukrainian labor market still shows negative trends — more than 40% of workers have lost their jobs, and another 22.5% are working, but receive only part of their wages.

Another quarter of Ukrainians fear that they may be cut short in the near future. This is evidenced by the research data of the grc.ua job search portal.

What is the solution?

IT became the only export sector that grew despite the full-scale war. What's more, last year, the tech industry managed to earn a record amount in exports for all the years of independence.

The Swedish-Ukrainian IT school Beetroot Academy launched a free course, "Introduction to IT." The course was developed jointly with the Pact Ukraine organization within the framework of the "Kryla" project with the support of the Government of Canada.

How does it work?

The basic course includes three modules, classes in English, and career counseling. It is conducted by practicing teachers with over three years of experience in IT.

The first module is aimed at acquiring knowledge of computer and Internet literacy.

The second is for studying the main IT professions:

  • front-end development;
  • back-end development;
  • maintenance and support of users;
  • marketing and sales;
  • HR;
  • project management;
  • design

The third module is devoted to the general awareness of careers in IT (workshops). Students also have a final exam.

For reference:

Training will begin on June 1 and occur thrice a week for two months.

To participate, you must meet the following requirements:

  • age — from 18 years;
  • residence in settlements of Kharkiv, Poltava, Kyiv, and Lviv regions;
  • lack of work or stable income (acquiring higher education is considered a full-fledged engagement and is equated with work).

Details about the course and the application algorithm can be found here.

The selection consists of three stages:

  • testing to determine the level of training;
  • an online meeting with the Beetroot manager after successful test results;
  • enrollment in studies.
