russia brings new wave of nuclear specialists to Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant

The russian Kalinin Nuclear Power Plant personnel arrived at the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. Reactor control engineers, shift supervisors, electrical fitters, and other nuclear experts are among the crew, announced Enerhoatom, the main state enterprise that operates all nuclear power plants in Ukraine.

"Occupiers believe that nuclear workers from the russian federation will be able to work at the captured Ukrainian station. Among such so-called "visitors," there are reactor control engineers, shift supervisors, electrical fitters, and other representatives of nuclear-related specialties."

The invaders promise these specialists to organize full-scale simulator training. But the Ukrainian instructors, supposed to conduct such activity, refused to work for the enemy, so russians blocked their workplace access.

For reference: the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, located in southeastern Ukraine, is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, it has been under russian control. According to the last report of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) dated January 26, military activities have been ongoing in the close vicinity of the facilities. Rafael Mariano Grossi, the Director General of the IAEA, stresses the importance of agreeing on and implementing a Nuclear Safety and Security Protection Zone around the nuclear plant as soon as possible.
