Top US officials meet with UA children's support organization
During their two-day visit to Kyiv, US Deputy Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland and US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink visited the charity organization Volunteer Union PORUCH, which is a partner of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Kyiv and provides assistance to war victims.
Victoria got to know the PORUCH team and checked the organization's work. The delegation got to the volunteer headquarters during free children's classes for children of refugees from the war zone and occupation in the PORUCH-SPACE space.
PORUCH-SPACE is a project of psychological support, assistance in socialization, and adaptation for children from the war zone and occupation. The PORUCH team conducts free classes in creativity, dance, sports, journalism, English language, and art therapy to help children affected by the war improve their psychological state and find friends in a new city.
Victoria and Bridget happily joined in making the dolls together with the children. On this day, they made patriotic amulets for the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and presented dolls to the guests.
The class was attended by children from Druzhkivka, Kharkiv, Kherson, and Sievierodonetsk, and the teacher was from Avdiivka.
UNHCR, together with KrymSOS partners, supports the Voluntary Union PORUCH and helps purchase furniture and equipment for activities with children.
During the visit, respectable political figures not only performed their immediate work tasks but also had a friendly conversation with the children. Such moments of happiness and smiles are priceless in times of war.
