The Zaporizhzhia school created a clothing collection with Scythian motifs. On February 12, the dresses were presented in Paris at a designer show as part of the project "What is the Secret of Ukraine's Resilience?"

Suspilne reports this.

What is the solution?

The Zaporizhzhia Higher Professional School of Fashion and Style has launched a new clothing brand, RODOVID. Under this brand, teachers and students collaborated to design a collection featuring Scythian motifs and embroidery inspired by the Golden Pectoral.

How does it work?

The RODOVID collection was created and showcased during the FASHION BUSINESS PRORYV, an all-Ukrainian startup competition.

The competition's founder noticed the work of Zaporizhzhia craftsmen and suggested presenting it in Paris as part of the project "What is the Secret of Ukraine's Resilience?"

"We never even dreamed of such a thing. A very competent jury evaluated the works. These are designers, and they are very authoritative figures in the world of fashion. And already there, the founder of FASHION BUSINESS PRORYV saw us and decided that the work was worthy of representing Ukraine in Paris," the school's deputy director, Nataliia Babaieva, said.

The dresses, crafted over two months, were imbued with intentional symbolism.

The first dress was decorated by the masters with an embroidered copy of the Golden Pectoral, which was found in 1971 in the Scythian mound Tovsta Mohyla in the Dnipropetrovsk region. The other was embroidered with a "pegasus" ornament.

"We chose Pegasus because it is the god of the sun. Previously, it was believed to be a symbol of power, just like the pectoral. This is leadership. We thought of it as a victory," the school's teacher, Yana Boksha, said.

The interesting thing about the work was that it was gold casting, and it had to be converted into embroidery for ordinary fabric.

In addition to the trip to the fashion capital, the school's teachers and students will continue to compete in the startup competition.

Among the 109 participants of FASHION BUSINESS PRORYV, the Zaporizhzhia School of Fashion and Style entered the top 20.

"The twenty that we entered will continue their studies. Our students will be taught how to create a business.

The final round is approaching, where only 10 contestants will advance. These finalists will receive assistance in launching their own stores on the Etsy platform," Nataliia Babaieva added.

For reference:

Ukrainian Fashion Week has announced the launch of the "Clothing with Function" program, which addresses a significant social issue. Due to the impacts of the full-scale war, Ukraine is seeing a rise in the number of military personnel and civilians with injuries that affect their daily comfort. This program aims to adapt clothing design to meet these specific needs.

Notably, the SOLO for Diamonds brand has partnered with the Superhumans rehabilitation center to launch a charitable initiative, SOLO by Superhumans. This project celebrates a love that transcends limits and boundaries, inspired by the story of Anastasiia and Oleksii, a couple who met during rehabilitation and have remained inseparable ever since.
