EU confirmed plans to double electricity import from Ukraine

The European network of electricity transmission system operators ENTSO-E on Wednesday confirmed its intention to double the import of electricity from Ukraine, which was announced by the European Commission the day before.

It was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.

The statement was made during the meeting of the Minister of Energy of Ukraine, Herman Haluschenko, with the chairman of the board of ENTSO-E, Joachim Vanzetta, and the network secretary general, Sonya Twohig, in Brussels.

Galushchenko emphasized that given yesterday's EU decision to reduce the consumption of russian gas by 15%, Ukraine can help Europe compensate for the corresponding volumes by increasing the export of Ukrainian electricity.

The ENTSO-E management confirmed that the export is planned to increase shortly. Already this week, the volume will double, and further growth will continue.

The operator emphasizes that the growth of export volumes should occur gradually, taking into account the technical protocols for ensuring the stability of the power system.
