Protest against the rape of Ukrainian women by russian army took place near russian embassy in Riga
Protest action against the sexual violence of the russian military against Ukrainian women and children took place near the russian embassy in the Latvian capital Riga.
The national broadcaster LSM reported this.
Protesters stood in rows in front of the embassy with their hands tied, black plastic bags on their heads, "bloody" underwear, and legs.
According to organizers, cited by Delfi, 130 women took part in the action. An incident was reported in the western media when a man tried to provoke them, but after talking to the police, he left.
Similar actions have taken place earlier in Tallinn and Vilnius, with the aim of condemning russia's actions and urging Western countries to actively combat violence.
As previously reported, the Ombudsman of Ukraine Liudmyla Denisova stated the recorded facts of sexual violence, including against children, committed by russian soldiers in the Kyiv region. The human rights organization Human Rights Watch also confirmed the crimes committed by the russian military in Ukraine.
