In Dnipro, the school collects 770 kg of waste paper and exchanges for seedlings of trees and shrubs
As part of the "Exchange Paper For a Tree" campaign, school № 37 in Dnipro collected 770 kg of waste paper and exchanged it for saplings of trees and bushes.
The press service of the Dnipro city council announced it, Rubryka reports.
"We collected everything in three days. We plan to plant the seedlings near the school and make a mini-garden, sign each tree and hold outdoor lessons with students, where we'll explain the features of these plants. In general, planting is a tradition for us. Each graduating class plants a tree. The oldest one is already 16 years old," said school principal, Natalia Nizelnyk.
Biology teacher Olha Martynets personally chose trees and bushes.
"Catalpa (a tree-like plant) is also represented here. The larch is also a tree, even relict plants are here," she said.
According to Maryna Kovalchuk, a member of the Dnipro Eco-Consciousness program, statistics say one tree is preserved during the processing of 69 kg of waste paper.
The initiative will last until December. It was organized by the Department of Environmental Policy of the Dnipro City Council together with the "Dnipro Eco-Consciousness" project.
