Tkachenko considers the initiative to switch to the Latin alphabet premature

Minister of Culture and Information Policy Oleksandr Tkachenko considers the initiative to switch to the Latin alphabet to be at least premature.

He said this at the opening of the 11th International Media Forum KYIV MEDIA WEEK, talking about the potential of the domestic film industry, Ukrinform reports.

"I'm convinced that the film industry, first of all, has extremely great potential. There are many talents. We can promote our product abroad. This is also a kind of promotion of Ukraine," said the head of the ministry.

Commenting on the opinion of the head of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksii Danilov on the expediency of switching to Latin, Tkachenko stated that "first we all need to learn the Ukrainian language well," and then talk about Latin.

As reported by Rubryka, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksii Danilov said in an interview with Radio Svoboda that Ukraine should "get rid of the Cyrillic alphabet and switch to Latin."
