Zelenskyy at the US visit speaks about victories in fighting against corruption in Ukraine
During his visit to the United States, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that there were two ways to fight corruption in Ukraine: digitalization and the judiciary. According to the President, due to changes in these areas, we "have already won" in the direction of fighting corruption, and these achievements will be appreciated by future presidents.
Zelenskyy said this during events at the residence of the first US President George Washington, Mount Vernon, Hromadske reports.
The President noted that Ukraine had already signed two laws on the reform of the judicial system: on the restart of the High Qualifications Commission of Judges and the screening of the High Council of Justice.
"It's a process further. But the political will to digitize judicial reform, it's not just there, it's done. There are no, I think, more formats to fight corruption. All over the world by the way. You have a feeling that there's no lobbying outside of Ukraine. But there is always corruption," he said.
Zelenskyy also noted that he could not be held accountable for every judge or person working in a law enforcement agency, so an anti-corruption system had been set up and launched.
"The system is now made, voted on. For now, it's difficult to say how much time it will be. But a program has been launched that says that it will be done for sure. These are fundamental things. In this direction, in the fight against corruption, I believe that we have already won. And the next people, the next presidents, will appreciate and use it," Zelenskyy said.
