Surrogacy in Ukraine and the law: whose rights are being violated and what we need to change
The key question remains: how to protect a child born to a surrogate mother? Working out the issue together with experts
The issue of surrogacy has once again become acute in our country. These events preceded: in April, 46 babies were held in a hotel in the capital, waiting for foreign parents; doctors who had previously sold children born to surrogate mothers in Ukraine on the basis of fictitious marriages with foreigners later were exposed as frauds in Kyiv. Officials intensified the tension by statements banning surrogacy. It turned out that the situation showed gaps in the legislation on surrogacy, and that society is sensitive about this topic.
