SoJo Europe: Rubryka enters first pan-European cohort of solutions journalism

Along with nine other newsrooms from Portugal to the Netherlands, Rubryka formed a media association promoting solutions journalism in Europe.

Rubryka is among the leading European media outlets that develop solutions journalism and promote constructive approaches in the media. The SoJo Europe (Solutions Journalism: Europe) cohort includes ten newsrooms from across the continent. Each of the editors brings their own perspective and insights from the media landscape of their country, which helps to develop a common vision and approach in European journalism. Rubryka represents Ukraine.

Other cohort members include Maldita.es (Spain), RADAR Magazine (Italy), Ekonews (Czech Republic), Radio FM99 (Lithuania), Vers Beton (Netherlands), Slow News (Italy), Mensagem de Lisboa (Portugal), Scena9 ( Romania) and Lavialibera (Italy).

SoJo Europe:

In the cohort, its media members undergo training and education to improve their work and implement joint cross-border journalistic projects. Rubryka has already established a partnership with Romanian colleagues from Scena9. Together, we will present joint investigative material that will also offer solutions to the environmental problem that Ukraine and Romania share and that has become actualized after the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. We will show the result of the cooperation this September.

Participation in the cohort and similar projects is extremely important for Rubryka because in this way, we can talk even louder about Ukraine, its problems and solutions that Ukrainians find every day in the struggle for a free and independent future.

Reference: The creation of the cohort took place within the framework of the SoJo Europe (Solutions Journalism: Europe) program, which is implemented by Transitions, a Czech media organization that promotes the approach of constructive journalism in Europe. The project "Constructive News: Fostering Solutions Journalism Across Europe" is funded by the European Commission and implemented by Transitions and with the support of three other organizations — Journalismfund Europe (Belgium), the Constructive Institute (Denmark), and The South East European Network for Professionalization of Media (SEENPM).
