On July 20, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, had a telephone conversation with Donald Trump, the candidate for the presidency of the United States of America: they discussed the assassination attempt on the American politician and the prospects for ending the war in Ukraine.

Rubryka writes about this, referring to the Office of the President, the message of the ex-president of the USA on the social network Truth Social, and the statement of the Head of the Ukrainian State on the social network X.

As Trump noted in his post, the conversation was "very good."

In his words, Zelensky condemned the "shocking assassination attempt last Saturday" and noted that the American people are united in these times.

"He congratulated me on a very successful Republican National Convention and becoming the Republican nominee for President of the United States," Trump added.

Trump then called himself "the next president of the United States." He also declared that he would bring peace to the world and end the war that has cost so many lives.

"Both sides will be able to come together and negotiate a deal that ends the violence and paves a path forward to prosperity," the politician said.

In his turn, Zelensky also spoke about his conversation with Trump. The Ukrainian leader noted that he agreed with the US presidential candidate to discuss during a personal meeting what steps can make the peace just and truly lasting.

"Ukraine will always be grateful to the United States for its help in strengthening our ability to resist Russian terror. Russian attacks on our cities and villages continue every day," the head of state added.

Zelensky also noted the vital importance of bipartisan and bicameral American support for protecting Ukraine's freedom and independence.

In addition, Zelensky congratulated Trump on the Republican nomination and condemned the assassination attempt on him in Pennsylvania.

"I wished him strength and absolute safety in the future," he wrote.

We will remind you that Ukraine will continue to work with the White House regardless of the outcome of the presidential elections in the USA. In the case of victory of the candidate from the Republican Party, Donald Trump, this work will be "difficult," but Ukrainians are "hardworking," Volodymyr Zelensky said.

It is worth adding that earlier in one of the last interviews, the president of Ukraine warned that Trump risks "becoming a loser" if, as the president of the United States, he implements a "peace plan" forcing Ukraine to make concessions to the aggressor.

Zelensky also said that if the candidate for the presidency of the United States of America (USA), Donald Trump, has a plan for ending the Russian-Ukrainian war, he should share it. However, he warned that any proposal should not violate Ukraine's sovereignty.
