Solutions to win: Ukraine’s Defense Ministry approves new individual demining kit for use by armed forces

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has codified and approved a domestic individual demining kit for use in Ukraine's armed forces units.

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reports this.

"The Defense Department has codified and approved for use in Ukraine's armed forces a domestically produced individual demining kit KR-04," the Main Department for Lifecycle Support of Armaments and Military Equipment informed.

The individual kit has modules and devices for performing a set of tasks for searching, marking, and neutralizing explosive objects in various conditions:

• in open areas,
• in buildings,
• in motor vehicles.

"With its compact size and light weight, the individual demining kit has a functional configuration," the Ministry of Defense noted.

In particular, the set includes:

• a sapper's clamp,
• a probe,
• cat hooks,
• a paracord,
• a sapper's lanyard,
• a universal key for deactivating detonators,
• markers for marking passages,
• safety checks,
• insulating tape, etc.

The components of the set are placed in a specially shaped bag and special fasteners. This allows for ergonomic placement of the set on a soldier's protective equipment.

As reported, modern warfare requires modern technological solutions. Therefore, unmanned ground systems developed by Ukrainian companies are being actively implemented and scaled up in the Ukrainian Defense Forces. In particular, the SIRKO-S1 ground robotic complex helps the Ukrainian military with mining, demining, and logistics.

It was also reported that the Kramatorsk Heavy Machine Tool Plant developed the Germina URCM-3000 remotely controlled demining system. This system can demine up to 5 hectares in one day and can withstand the detonation of an anti-tank mine.

In August 2023, Ukraine certified the first machine for preparing the soil for demining, which Kharkiv specialists developed. This allowed it to establish its production and use for demining territories. The equipment is capable of effectively neutralizing anti-personnel and detecting anti-tank mines.

In October 2023, it became known that Ukraine was testing the ST1 autonomous drone-deminer, which can make the demining process much faster and safer. On average, it works four times faster than a person.

In February 2024, Ukraine introduced the third model of a domestic demining machine, which is not inferior to the best Western analogues.
