Russian strikes completely destroy electricity generation in Mykolaiv – city mayor

On the night of February 16, Russian forces completely destroyed electricity generation in Mykolaiv by striking a local CHP. In response, the city is working to restore heat supply through alternative methods.
The mayor of Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Sienkevych, reported that on Telegram.
On the night of February 16, Russian invaders targeted the critical infrastructure of the Mykolaiv CHP, leaving over 100,000 people without heat supply.
"… at night, the enemy struck our CHP with several drones, as a result of which the CHP subscribers were left without heat. The electricity generation was completely destroyed," Sienkevych noted.

Thanks to cooperation with Denmark, we received modular boiler houses, so we managed to keep the heat in hospitals," Sienkevych added.
He noted that, over the past day, municipal services have been eliminating the consequences of the attacks in two districts.

In addition, one of the strikes hit a sewer collector on the roadway of Tsentralny Avenue. Specialists from Mykolaivvodokanal are carrying out repairs.
"They were cleaning the streets and patching up windows for residents… One of the strikes hit the roadway of Tsentralny Avenue. Later it turned out that it was directly on the sewer collector," Sienkevych noted.
He noted that today, the elimination of the consequences of the shelling will continue.

During the night of February 16, Russian military launched drones over Mykolaiv, resulting in a fire, structural damage, and one casualty.
Vitalii Kim, head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, reported that five apartment buildings, at least four shops, a restaurant, and office space sustained damage from falling debris and the impact of the blast wave.
In the Sumy region, occupiers launched 40 attacks on eight communities over the past day, resulting in damage to residential buildings in two communities and causing casualties.
In total, on the night of February 16, Russian forces used 143 drones against Ukraine. Air defense forces operated in 13 regions of the country: 95 UAVs were destroyed, and another 46 drones did not reach the target.
