German company donates nearly 100 pianos to Ukraine's music lyceum and art schools

The German company C. Bechstein Pianoforte AG has donated about 100 W. Hoffman pianos to Ukrainian art schools and the Mykola Lysenko Kyiv State Music Lyceum.

The day before, Ukraine's Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications, Mykola Tochytskyi, arrived in Berlin, the capital of Germany, on a working visit.

Bechstein Pianoforte AG is one of the world's leading manufacturers of premium acoustic pianos.

The meeting was attended by:

  • Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine Mykola Tochytskyi,
  • Director of the Ukrainian Charitable Foundation "Carl Bechstein" Iryna Noniashvili,
  • Director of "Grandpiano" LLC, the official representative office of C.Bechstein in Ukraine Viktor Mykhailov,
  • Director of the German foundation Carl Bechstein Stiftung, cultural manager C.Bechstein Gregor Wilmes, and owner of C.Bechstein Stefan Freimut.

Tochytskyi expressed gratitude to foreign partners for charitable initiatives supporting young musicians.

Before that, Tochytskyi discussed with his German colleague Claudia Roth the prospects for deepening international cooperation in cultural restoration and creating opportunities to support artists in Ukraine during the war.

The discussion included cooperation in the context of the upcoming International Conference on Restoration (URC2025), which will be held in Rome, and Ukraine's participation in this year's Berlinale.

Tochytskyi stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation in combating the illegal movement of cultural values.

He expressed gratitude to the German State Minister for comprehensive support for the Ukrainian cultural sphere since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russian troops, including for supporting Ukraine at the Frankfurt Book Fair, which allows for close cooperation with foreign partners to strengthen and develop Ukrainian book publishing.

The Minister also thanked Roth for confirming her participation in the "Cooperation for Sustainability" Conference on Culture in Ukraine, which will become a platform for setting priorities for protecting cultural heritage, discussing common threats, and combating the illegal trafficking of cultural values.

The Ministry of Culture and Information Policy has approved the standard for primary music education, which will guide the curriculum at music lyceums in Ukraine.

Moreover, the BGV Charity Foundation, together with German donors #WeAreAllUkrainians and the Lufthansa Group's help alliance fund, completely completed the renovation project of the Levko Revutsky Children's School of Arts in Bucha.

It was also reported that on June 30, the Bucha City Council and representatives of the Ukrainian BGV Charity Foundation officially presented the updated facade of the Bucha Children's School of Arts.
