Russia launches air attack on Ukraine at night: high-rise building on fire and child injured in Kyiv, casualties in Zaporizhzhia
On the night of September 26, Russian troops once again attacked the territory of Ukraine with groups of Shahed drones. Throughout the night, explosions could be heard in both Kyiv and the west of Ukraine. Moreover, the enemy also targeted Zaporizhzhia.

Explosions in Kyiv
At 1:40 in the morning, the first explosions erupted in the capital city. Just 6 minutes later, the regional military administration released a report on the work of the air defense system. By 2:27 a.m., more explosions were heard, prompting the KCMA to announce the activation of air defense. According to the reports from KCMA, air defense was once again operational in the city by 4:23 a.m. and remained so at 5:20.
At 5:40, more explosions were heard in the capital. Mayor Klychko announced that the air defense forces are active in the Obolon district. Then, at 6:03 a.m., another round of explosions echoed through Kyiv.
At 6:14 a.m., Klychko announced that emergency services had been called to the Pechersk district.
"Preliminary reports indicate that a fire has started on the first floor of a residential building due to falling debris. The State Emergency Service units are en route to the location," he wrote.
According to preliminary data, the KCMA specified that a fire had occurred on the first floor of a 5-story residential building in the Pechersk district.
"Initial reports suggest that there has been a depressurization of a gas pipeline. Kyivgas is urgently on its way to the location of the incident," the KCMA reported.
Debris also fell on the kindergarten's territory, and about 20 cars were damaged. Information about the alleged victims is being clarified.
At 7:07 a.m., fresh explosions were heard in Kyiv. The KCMA reported on the air defense activities.
At 7:11 a.m., the military authority of the city reported an injured child who had been hospitalized with multiple cut wounds.
The State Emergency Service announced that the fire caused by a decrease in gas pipe pressure has been put out.
According to the KCMA, the Air Defense Forces detected over a dozen enemy drones heading towards the capital.

"According to reports from the air defense forces, over a dozen enemy drones were detected heading towards the capital. Combat operations were conducted in the airspace near Kyiv for five hours.
Air defense forces and means neutralized about a dozen Russian attack drones. (The Air Force will publish the exact number and type of UAVs in its reports)," the administration added.
Attack on Zaporizhzhia
According to the head of the regional military administration, the Russians targeted residential buildings and the territory of one of the industrial enterprises.
Seven people were injured, including:
- four women,
- two men,
- 14-year-old boy.
"Private and apartment buildings were mutilated," Fedorov wrote.
According to the police, on September 25, between 10:55 pm and 11:14 pm, the invaders launched five airstrikes (using guided aerial bombs) on the regional center and Zaporizhzhia district.
An explosive wave and debris damaged an apartment building due to one of the blows.
Another explosion was near a residential home in one of the city's neighborhoods. Several nearby houses and cars sustained damage. Members of the police force, bomb technicians, paramedics, and rescue workers from the city are currently on the scene.
Mykolaiv region
Russian occupiers attacked an energy infrastructure facility in the region, as the head of the regional military administration, Vitalii Kim, reported.
"On the night of September 26, combat operations took place in the Mykolaiv region, utilizing air defense forces and equipment. Further details will be provided later. The enemy launched an attack on an energy infrastructure site in the area, disrupting subscribers' services," he noted.
At the same time, Kim clarified that energy workers have already restored most of it, and the work continues.
"Most of it has already been restored by energy workers; work continues. There are no casualties," the message reads.
Explosions in the west of Ukraine
According to reports from Suspilne, explosions were heard in the Khmelnytskyi region at 1:32 a.m. and again at 2:04 a.m. A third round of explosions was heard within the span of an hour.
In the morning, the regional military administration reported that air defense forces shot down three Shahed drones in the Khmelnytskyi region.
"As of this hour, there are no casualties or damage," Serhii Tiurin, head of Khmelnytskyi Regional Military Administration, reported.
In Khmelnytskyi, the sounds of explosions were again heard at 7:45 a.m.
According to reports from Suspilne, explosions were heard in Ivano-Frankivsk at 3:59 a.m. Within 5 minutes, the city was rocked by multiple explosions. Mayor Martsinkiv announced the deployment of Air Defense Forces in the city. At 5:36, he released a video statement:
"Our anti-aircraft defense worked at night. Thanks to our defenders. The most important thing is that there are no casualties."
The mayor stated that the Russians have a goal of destroying civil infrastructure. The competent authorities will discuss more information at a later time.
