Over 100 Russian soldiers surrender to Ukraine's armed forces in Kursk region
In the Kursk region, Ukrainian military forces captured over 100 Russian soldiers when the enemy company surrendered due to being abandoned by their military leadership.
The "Hochu Zhyt" project's press service [" I Want to Live" is a Ukrainian initiative for Russian soldiers seeking to surrender to Ukraine – ed.] reported this.
As noted, more than a hundred Russians left behind by their commanders made a decision and surrendered yesterday, August 14.
"You can understand them; it is difficult to conduct military operations when autocrats and embezzlers command you, and the flanks are "backed up" by Kadyrov bandits who abandon everyone and everything to not be captured themselves," the message emphasized.
The project also mentioned the name of the Russian general Lapin, who in 2022 was responsible for the defense of the Kharkiv region [when it was rapidly de-occupied by Ukrainian troops – ed.] and is now responsible for the defense of Kursk.
The "Alpha" unit executed the operation, according to sources in the Security Service of Ukraine, who disclosed this information to OBOZ.UA and shared exclusive photos and videos.
This is the most massive capture of the enemy that was carried out once.
The soldiers from the "Alpha" unit have successfully captured a heavily fortified company stronghold. The stronghold had:
- an intricate network of underground tunnels and rooms,
- a dining area,
- an armory,
- and even a bathhouse.
Apparently, the enemy had no intention of surrendering, as they had an abundance of provisions and ammunition.
As per reports, special forces managed to apprehend 102 soldiers from the 488th Guards Motorized Rifle Regiment of the Russian Armed Forces and the Akhmat unit.
"We are talking about the capture of rashists [Ukrainian officials and media frequently use the term "rashist" to describe individuals and supporters of the Russian Armed Forces – ed.] in the Kursks region. We are replenishing the exchange fund!" sources added.
