Rebuilding Ukraine: UNDP and Japanese government donate 25 dump trucks to Kherson region
The Kherson region's municipal fleet has been replenished with 25 dump trucks, thanks to the Japanese government's support in partnership with the United Nations Development Program.
The head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin, reported that on a briefing.
What is the problem?
Since the full-scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine began, over 670 thousand tons of debris have been produced by the end of 2023.
The destruction caused by military actions in Ukraine results in waste that irreparably damages its environment and pollutes its water, soil, and air.
According to data from the regional military administration, as of October 31, 2023, the highest amount of debris resulting from destruction was documented in the regions of Kyiv, Kherson, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, Donetsk, and Zaporizhzhia.
What is the solution?
The head of the region noted, "The municipal fleet of the Kherson region has been replenished with 25 dump trucks. The special equipment has already been handed over to communities."
How does it work?
He noted that the equipment will be used to:
- construction, emergency restoration works,
- liquidation of the consequences of Russian armed aggression.
For reference:
It should be noted that four communities of the Kherson region plan to implement a project to improve water supply with the support of the Netherlands.
