"We must stop this terror:" Zelensky calls on partners to strengthen Kharkiv region’s air defense
President Volodymyr Zelensky, reacting to the round-the-clock Russian terror against peaceful residents of Kharkiv, called on partners to make the criminal actions of the enemy impossible by providing additional anti-aircraft defense.
Rubryka writes about this, referring to Zelensky's Telegram.
As the Ukrainian leader stated, six people were killed, and more than ten people were injured as a result of nighttime Russian strikes in Kharkiv.
The president also noted that Russian terror against civilians must be stopped. Zelensky said that partners can help strengthen air defense in the Kharkiv region.
"Russian terror against Kharkiv does not stop — the city and the region suffered another attack. Residential buildings and civil infrastructure were damaged. Unfortunately, six people died. Sincere condolences to relatives and friends. More than ten people were injured.
All on-site services are working, and all victims are being assisted. We must make this terror impossible. We must strengthen the Kharkiv region's air defense, and partners can help us with this," the president wrote.
We will remind that Germany has already announced an immediate search for available Patriot air defense systems for Ukraine.
Also, Kuleba and US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken discussed speeding up the provision of additional Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems to Kyiv in Brussels, given the increased Russian airstrikes.
A combined Russian attack on the night of April 6
We will remind that on the night of April 6, Russians launched several groups of drones and missiles of various types, as a result of which explosions rang out in Kharkiv. Anti-aircraft defense was working in the Kyiv region, and there was also a lot of noise in Zaporizhzhia:
- In Kharkiv, six people died, and 11 were injured as a result of a night strike. The drones hit residential buildings — at least nine high-rise buildings, three dormitories, several administrative buildings, a shop, a gas station, a service station, and cars were damaged.
- In the Kyiv region, the Makariv community was attacked by enemy drones and missiles. A private enterprise was damaged.
In Zaporizhzhia, industrial enterprises were mutilated as a result of the strike — preliminarily, with no casualties. Residential buildings, medical facilities, and educational institutions were also damaged. - In the Kherson region, a fire broke out at an agro-industrial enterprise. The fire has already been extinguished. There was no information about the victims.
- In the Khmelnytskyi region, air defense forces shot down five Shahed UAVs. Information about the dead, injured, or damaged has not yet been received.
- In general, on the night of April 6, the Russian forces delivered a massive strike with 32 Shahed-type attack UAVs, as well as six missiles of different types: the air defense forces managed to shoot down two cruise missiles, a Kalibr missile, and 28 attack drones.
