Russian cyber agent working at Zaporizhzhia administration detained for leaking positions of Ukrainian forces
The chief specialist of the cybersecurity department in Zaporizhzhia, who turned out to be an informant for the Russian FSB, was detained.
According to the investigation, he tried to obtain classified information about the deployment of the Ukrainian forces and defense procurement in the region.
The exposed man is a trained radio engineer from Zaporizhzhia. He worked at a local enterprise that maintains military equipment for Ukrainian troops.
To obtain classified information, the agent tried to use his access to the servers of the state agency.
In September of this year, on his own initiative, he offered his "help" to the occupiers by writing to a Russian chatbot created to collect information about Ukrainian troops. Subsequently, he was remotely contacted by an FSB officer and engaged in cooperation.
On the instructions of the Russian secret service, the man secretly filmed the plant's production facilities and military equipment on his phone. He also tried to identify repair bases and other logistics centers.
So far, the investigators of the Security Service have informed him of the suspicion. The perpetrator is in custody. He faces up to 12 years in prison.
