Denmark sends ammunition to Ukraine worth a quarter of 250 million Danish kroner (36 million dollars). Copenhagen provides shells at the request of the Ukrainian authorities.

TV2 reported this.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, Lars Løkke Rasmussen, made the corresponding statement.

"This is a significant contribution that Ukraine urgently needs," he said.

Denmark will send 2,000 artillery shells to Ukraine.

"The situation is such that we all see that a counteroffensive has been announced. It is already underway. Ukraine managed to contain the Russians; now it's time to respond with good for good. For this, it is necessary that they have the required capabilities – in particular, ammunition," the minister clarified.

For his part, Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen emphasized that a donation of this size "is not something that will give Ukraine confidence that it has enough ammunition."

"This is a contribution to the solution of a specific acute problem they are facing. Additional ammunition is needed. So this is a contribution to the solution of the current problem," he said, adding that more needs to be done to increase ammunition production.

For reference:

Denmark supports Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression. In particular, the country provides military equipment and weapons, including Leopard 2 tanks. Denmark is already starting to train Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighter jets.

Recently, Denmark launched a social investment fund program for Ukraine worth 130 million dollars. The government also planned to increase the limits and expand the financial assistance program for Ukraine.

In early May, Copenhagen allocated the largest aid package for Ukraine, which included equipment necessary for a counter-offensive.
