None of Mariupol plants is working, Azovstal has been bombed - Deputy Mayor
Mariupol Deputy Mayor Serhii Orlov said that none of the local plants were working and that the Metinvest Azovstal plant had been bombed.
He said this in an interview with Forbes.
"Nothing is working. Everything is at the stale. It is impossible to re-start it all. Azovstal has been bombed. Completely. A lot of air raids have fallen on Azovstal," he said.
The largest enterprises of the city are Mariupol Sea Commercial Port, Illich Steel and Iron Works, Azov Shipyard, Magma, Azovstal, Azovintex, Azovmash. The key industry is metallurgy. The share of export products in foreign trade turnover is about 70%.
As of 2018, 15.7% of the city's employed population worked in the metallurgical sector. These products have been supplied to 50 countries.
